Baltimore, MD (February 29, 2020) – The Blast hosted the Rochester Lancers on Saturday night at SECU Arena. In front of 2,854 energetic fans in the arena for Hall of Fame Night where Marty McGinty, Lee Tschantret and David Bascome were inducted at halftime, the Blast were victorious 12-3. This improved Baltimore’s all-time record against Rochester to a perfect 23-0.  

The Blast offense came out hot. They recorded the first five goals of the game to jump out to an early lead. Vini Dantas, Lucas Roque, Marco Nascimento, and Juan Pereira (two goals) put the Blast up. Rochester would find some life with two goals in forty-five seconds but before the end of the first, momentum would shift back to the Blast’s side when Jereme Raley recorded his second goal of the season. At the end of the first, the Blast led 6-2.    

In the final minute of the second quarter, teams exchanged goals. Andriy Demydiv scored for the Lancers and Tony Donatelli scored for the Blast. The Blast went into the half leading 7-3.   

The Blast remained in complete control in the second half with five straight goals. Vini Dantas, Tony Donatelli, Andrew Hoxie, Jereme Raley, and Jonathan Melo extended the Blast lead to nine. After shutting out the Lancers in the second half, the Blast were victorious 12-3.

Jonathan Melo recorded four assists and added a goal to lead the Blast offensively. Juan Pereira and Vini Dantas both recorded two goals and two assists and in net for the Blast, William Vanzela recorded 13 saves in the victory.  

The Blast return home next weekend for their regular season home finale against the Harrisburg Heat. Kickoff is at 6:05 p.m. from the SECU Arena. Come join the team for Fan Appreciation Night as the playoff push continues. Tickets are available through the Blast office or TicketMaster.
